Last week we took a quick look at a 240 gallon freshwater tank that we installed in Ipswich, MA.  Today we’ll take a closer look at some of this aquarium’s components and residents.     The fish you see here, and some of the water, came from a 75 gallon freshwater aquarium that we had been maintaining for several years now. This new tank sits on a custom built stand and has a matching custom canopy. The tank is lit by a Pacific Sun Hyperion LED aquarium...

These two empty tanks may look like they’re being stored safely in someone’s basement, but they have been placed deliberately and will soon be full of cycling saltwater.       The more water a system has, the more stable it is. Minor changes in pollution or nitrate levels will have a smaller net effect in a large environment.                       This is the display tank for this reef aquarium. We would...

Imagine an Ocean was recently hired to organize and update a large 180+ gallon reef system. Back to Essex, MA to check up on the TOH pond. More plants have been added and the vegetation is growing in well. The waterfall runs on a 12 hour on/off cycle. It not only provides a great visual effect and soothing sound, but oxygenates and aids in clearing the water as well. Lilies and floating plants in the foreground, tall reeds and bog plants as a backdrop. Plenty of direct sunlight for the majority of the day in this clearing. But, these plants don’t need to worry about drying...

Fans of our Facebook page will be familiar with this 125 gallon tank in Winchester,MA. Imagine an Ocean installed this tank on the finished half of a basement and the filters, pumps, and other noisy components on the unfinished side. Yorgos ran a line through the wall that carries water back and forth between the two. This is what lies just out of sight on the other side of that wall. This keeps the living space clean and your tank uncluttered.   Live rock is in an important...
